Teams to target: Luton Town & Newcastle United
Luton Town
For probably the only time this season, Luton Town are a team to target for your FPL sides this week, with the Hatters embarking on a favourable double game week.
On Saturday they travel to face Everton, before a home game with Burnley in midweek.
Everton are yet to score or claim a single point at Goodison Park this season which is encouraging for those looking to attack the first double of the season.
Their second opponent Burnley have just one point this season and despite some good performances, they have shown a lot of naivety and a home game against Vincent Kompany’s men is a favourable fixture.
Carlton Morris has two goals and an assist this season and is also on penalties making him the stand out attacking option.
Defensively Luton have a few £4.0m options and Issa Kabore looks the best option in a wing-back role.
Newcastle United vs. Burnley
Newcastle have recovered from a relatively rocky start and have been superb since the international break, keeping clean sheets in all four matches, granted in three different competitions.
Last week in the Premier League they embarrassed Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in an 8-0 win, with eight different scorers in the process.
Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman and Dan Burn all returned heavily in defence with three assists and a goal respectively. You will want at least one Toon defender for GW7, even if the latter duo are minor doubts going into the game.
Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak are both reportedly doubts for Saturday and with Harvey Barnes missing, Antony Gordon appears the stand out attacking pick.
Opposition to target: Sheffield United & Wolves
West Ham United vs. Sheffield United
Sheffield United have conceded four more goals than any side this season and are also three clear of the 19th placed side in the xGA table.
They shipped eight last week to Newcastle United and their struggles from set pieces were highlighted once again with Burn and Botman scoring from a corner and free-kick each.
James Ward-Prowse is as good as they come from set pieces as is a great one week punt for in GW7.
Were I to free hit this week, I’d want at least two West Ham options this week, with Jarrod Bowen and Kurt Zouma the two other stand out options.
Wolves vs. Manchester City
Only Sheffield United and West Ham have conceded a higher xGA than Wolves this season and a home game against the champions Manchester City is as tough as it gets.
Wolves have had a difficult fixture list to start the campaign, but they are also 18th for goals conceded, conceding on average two a game.
Manchester City have a good recent record at Molineux, scoring 11 times on their last three trips to Wolves.
Erling Haaland is a lock as usual and I’d definitely be holding all my City attacking options for GW7 even with some favourable games elsewhere.
Other options
Bournemouth vs. Arsenal
Arsenal have 14 points from their first six games, but performances are yet to reach the level of the previous campaign.
They’ve a favourable fixture at Bournemouth in GW7, but they’ve numerous injury doubts which make their assets not as appealing as usual.
We need more news on the fitness of the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard before we decide to purchase or even offload attacking options.
Arsenal have played in three away matches in all competitions this season and are yet to concede. On a free hit I’d be gambling on David Raya starting.
Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace
With the final spot in a free hit side I’d be looking at a Manchester United midfielder despite their struggles this season.
It’s very much a coin flip between Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes for me. Really is little to call between the two, but I’d have a slight preference for the former, who probably has the higher ceiling.
The two met in the Carabao Cup midweek and United looked very good, albeit against a rotated Palace side.
GW7 Dream Team: Raya; Trippier, Zouma, Kabore; Gordon, Bowen, Ward-Prowse, Rashford; Morris, Alvarez, Haaland (C)
