FPL Gameweek 10 Dream Team

Teams to target: Newcastle United & Liverpool

Wolves vs. Newcastle United
Newcastle United are top for xG and second top for xGA following a very impressive run of form.

Last time out they destroyed a usually solid Crystal Palace side and even though they’ve another difficult game here, you expect them to get three points.

Kieran Trippier has been in incredible form, with seven assists and two clean sheets in his last four matches. He’s the must have defender in the game at the moment.

Antony Gordon has surprised many this season and with a few attacking injuries, he’s the attacking option I’d select for this one.

Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest
Liverpool’s impressive start to the campaign has gone slightly under the radar and they have just started a favourable run of fixtures too.

Only Newcastle United have a higher xG than Liverpool this season and the FPL king Mohamed Salah has been in excellent form.

Four goals in his last two games, including two penalties means he’s again a must this week.

You’d want at least one more attacking Liverpool option and it’s a coin flip for me between Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. I’d have slight preference for the latter, he’s more likely to hit a double digit return, although you run the risk of a benching.

At £4.5m Kostas Tsimikas is a gift from the FPL gods, with the Greek international coming into the side following Andrew Robertson’s injury.

Opposition to target: Sheffield United & Luton Town

Arsenal vs. Sheffield United
Sheffield United put in an encouraging performance against Manchester United last weekend, but remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

They’ve numerous absentees for a daunting trip to the Emirates and a comfortable home win looks a very safe bet on Saturday.

Most FPL managers have offloaded their Arsenal attacking options and will be looking to bring at least one back for the plumb fixture of the week.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are the best picks and with the latter down at £7.7m after an injury hit start to the campaign, he could be the best route into the Arsenal attack.

Sheffield United have been woeful when it comes to defending set pieces this season and the likes of Gabriel and William Saliba are excellent options as well.

Aston Villa vs. Luton Town
Luton Town recovered from two goals down to earn an impressive draw at Nottingham Forest last time out, but they remain opposition we should target.

Aston Villa have handled the added fixtures from European competition well and are on an incredible run of 11 consecutive home Premier League wins.

Ollie Watkins is a must this week and he’s a legitimate captaincy option.

Given the opposition, I’d want at least a double up of Villa players were I on a free hit this week.

Matty Cash remains the best defender option, whilst Moussa Diaby or Douglas Luiz are the best second attacking picks from a Villa perspective.

Other options

Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham
Despite their incredible start to the season, were I to free hit this week I’d probably go without a Spurs option.

Crystal Palace are decent defensively, a 4-0 loss to Newcastle United aside, and have only conceded three goals in four matches at Selhurst Park.

I’d expect Spurs to win on Friday night, but I can’t see them scoring more than perhaps two.

As a result if I owned Heung-Min Son and James Maddison I’d be reluctant to offload, even with Arsenal’s glorious fixture this week.

West Ham vs. Everton
The Hammers were easily beaten at Aston Villa last time out, but have a favourable fixture in GW10.

Jarrod Bowen is owned by nearly 20% of managers and he’s the fourth highest scoring midfielder, only bettered by Salah, Son and Saka.

He’s a real option this week, but he’d just miss out on a FH side were I using the chip.

Given Everton’s struggles in front of goal, the £4.2m keeper Alphonse Areola is an excellent goalkeeper pick this week.

GW10 Dream Team: Areola; Cash, Trippier, Tsimikas, Saliba; Salah, Saka, Martinelli, Gordon; Watkins, Nunez
